In the short time that I knew him, Ronnie seemed like a great guy. I don't really know what to say right now but one memory that will always stick with me is during the "Les Paul" video shoot when Ron and P.J. started playing "Crazy Train" and I started singing(screaming), and then T.J. joined in. The most fun I've ever had filming and I'm lucky to have that moment on film.
I don't know if I can make it Thursday but I sure am gonna try to make it. I hope Ronnie is looking down at us from Heaven, happy and pounding away on that drum kit.

One of Ronnie's favorite tunes - Seagul by Bad Company----
Seagull you fly across the horizon into the misty morning sun _. Nobody asks you where you are going and nobody knows where you 're from . is this really the end of the world Seagull you must have known for a long time the shape of things to come CHORUS: Now you fly, through the sky never asking why And you 'll fly, all around 'til somebody no, no shoots you down Da da da da da da da da da da VERSE: Seagull you fly across the horizon into the misty morning sun Nobody asks you where you are going and nobody knows where you 'll fall CHORUS: Now you fly, through the sky never asking why. And you fly all around 'til somebody no, no shoots you down Now you fly, through the sky never asking why. And you fly all around 'til somebody no, no shoots you down. Seagull, fly away. Fly away now. Fly away tomorrow. Fly away my sorrow.

Here's a song by Judas Priest that will forever be linked to Ron:
Before the dawn, I hear you whisper In your sleep don't let the morning take him Outside the birds begin to call As if to summon up my leaving
Its been a lifetime since I found someone Since I found someone who would stay Ive waited too long, and now you're leaving Oh please don't take it all away
Its been a lifetime since I found someone Since I found someone who would stay Ive waited too long, and now you're leaving Oh please don't take it all away
Before the dawn, I hear you whisper In your sleep don't let the morning take him

I just wanted the rest you to know how I felt about Ronzo "Animal" Holbrook. I loved this guy like one of my brothers. Growing up in FVB we were known as Don, Tom and Ron for many years. There wasn't many places we didn't go together. We were FVB. Singing, Partying and enjoying life. It was some of the best times of my life. I alway remember Ron showing up out of no where on his moped. Always getting the ham, egg and cheese subs (extra, extra everything) at Wilmington House of Pizza and saying "Food is It" while stuffing it down. Ronnie always playing drums on anything that made a sound, especially in the back seat of the car. His constant hounding of when we were going to practice next and get to rocking the barn. Ron, You will be missed and never forgotten my brother. You touched my heart and I thank you for all the fun we had. I know that you also are rocking up in heaven with all the other rock and roll greats. Try to not get kicked out before we can meet again. Rest In Peace my friend. Tom

I'd like to thank everyone who came to remember my brother, Ron, tonight. I'd like to thank everyone who took time out to even remember Ron. We each mourn in our own ways. Please know just how much seeing and talking to all of his friends and bandmates meant to my family and me. I am eternally grateful to all of you. It was very difficult for all of us but each one of you made it that much more tolerable and meaningful. Thank you.

I'm really sorry I couldn't make it tonight. I have a DVD that consists of both The Welch Boys music videos, Ronnie's drum take from the "Les Paul" shoot, some jams with Ronnie, T.J., P.J., and myself, and some other things. If you'd like a copy, please e-mail me at immaconmovies@gmail.com to let me know where you'd like it sent to. This is an offer to Ronnie's family members. I don't know if you'd be interested. I might post the bonus footage online at some point for other people to see but if you are interested in a copy, feel free to get a hold of me. Once again, I wish I could have come.
Also, forgot to mention, but Andy King (president of Thorp/Sailor's Grave Records) and other people at Thorp/SGR send their condolences and best wishes during this difficult time.

I just want to thank everyone here for sharing some of their thoughts, memories, and pictures of him.
Thank You!
You just never know so LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH, AND (one thing I always seem to forget) ... TAKE MANY PICTURES!

Hey all, My name is Ed, I sang for FVB from about 83 to about 86. (I'm not the one in the pics above, also named Ed,I was the original singer). I was without a band when Don Gunn asked me to try out, and didn't pass up the chance to play with Jeff Moughan, the local guitar prodigy, although he was pretty young at 16. When I got to Wilmington, there's this little punk 14 yr old kid, Ron, all hyper " yousing?cool!readytojamgreatletsjammanletsjamyeahknowanyaerosmith?letsjam". Here I am all of 19 or 20 taking myself all serious and I think what the hell did I get myself into... And then that little fucker hit that beat up piece of crap snare from up near the rafters and that kit just exploded, and those guys fell into a tight, loud, beautiful hard rock r&b groove that I knew I needed to be part of... We did 3 yrs of practice/gigs, basically jamming at every party that would have us just so we could play. I was already singing but these guys taught me to be a front man. Force fed very steep learning curve, since there was always people there. With Ron around, no matter how things were going musically, you couldnt help but be enthusiastic. We were playing music purely for the fun of playing music. When it sucked, Ron made sure it was funny. When it was good, it was moving... Craig mentioned Red House. I still get chills when I hear that song cause It brings me right back there. If I sang good (probably rare back then) Ron was heard in the background throwing in a "yeah" or something, always cheering me on. He was most definitely born with a deep love for music, a musician in the purest form. In the funeral home parking lot Don played an old recording of us doing Red House, and at one point in a quiet spot I expected to hear that "yeah" from behind me, and on the ride home alone I cried. Again. That kid got under my skin and never left, and never will. Goodbye Ronzo, everybody's kid brother. We'll jam again someday, so save me a beer... -Ed (Sorry this is long...)

It's all ways too short all ways much too short Much like a favorite song that you never want to end Much like a favorite friend, brother, loved one's company all ways too short It's always too short In all ways it's all much too short.

Craig, you're the friggin' man. You're standing tall & strong and handling this shit with class. When my kid brother got himself killed (yeah I forgot to tell you we got something in common), I was a basket case. Back in the FVB days you were Ron's biggest fan and clearly still are. He's lucky to have a big brutha like you. His kids have an uncle that will share stories of their Dad's legacy and his love for them and for music. It was great to see you and I was really surprised you remembered me and sang me a little Red House. To have the whole crew in one room after all these years was amazing. We fell back into our old roles like it was yesterday, proving that real brothers pick up where they left off regardless of any circumstances. I've been in many bands but never a band of brothers like we were back then. I don't know what else to tell you. you know the score. I'm here for you if you get down. I'll PM my e-mail to you just in case. Meanwhile share your strength with your family, you seem to have a surplus. Peace Brother- Ed PS- We shouldve found a way to jam for him last night. Ron wouldnt have let us get away with being under one roof and not pissing off the neibors

Did my Brother, Ron touch you all enough for you to want to express that through music on a special night? Perhaps that IS truly how Ron would've wanted to be celebrated?
