I'm sorry about the loss of your brother, Ed...I didn't know. I'll email you...I got your message. You didnt know cause right now it doesnt matter. The last thing you need is "I know how you feel" cause no one knows how you feel...

As far as a benefit, I am already contacting the boys regarding playing a set. It would hinge on Jeff's health and Don's ability to travel from Canada but I'd love to do an acoustic or electric/acoustic set in front of Ron's empty kit. We would suck but Ron would get a good laugh at our expense...

10/12/2007 or as close to as possible...tentatively....I will proceed and follow with posts. Would you all keep this in your minds... ...I am thinking of all the bands... ...all and any from the Boston Scene... ...past and present that would like to give express there emotions in song ...that would like to give his kids a nice memorial of their Dad for all time. Ultimately, they are the ones who will be seeking...

Amen to that. This will be historical for other reasons as well. Don & I were in another band together years later, Stone Circus, and parted ways on bad terms. I swore I'd never share a stage with him again, but with Ron's passing we have let bygones be and he has already said he would play this gig so it's on brothers!

TJ and PJ:
Could you extend an Inquiry to Sailor Graves Records for any assistance they could offer or guidance in arranging some sort of Memorial to Benefit Ron's Legacy including any and all bands who would wish to participate in such a night?
I would take the ball and run with it.
Thanks

I wouldn't bother with asking SGR for help getting bands. Between T.J. and I, we know a ton of Boston bands. I could also post news/updates about this on the website. Maybe we could air some Ronnie tribute footage too, pictures, etc.

That would be great,
...I figured there'd be enough local bands...any ideas on venues...sounds like it might be a bit big...someone had mentioned abbey's lounge...but their max cap is 112...this sounds a bit too small...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.....

That's a good start...thanks....now I gotta hit the phones. Anymore ideas....I'm going to call some elks, knights...etc...along with some of these suggestions...I'm trying to think of how many bands plus friends, family, fans of bands...band mates...any help with the math...spread the word to the bands and have 'em write up on the board here so I will further calculate...If you took each band plus conservative 10 ea per band and add 25(conservative) family 150 people???

10 each for band? are you talking people getting in for free? as much as i like to get into shows for free when i go see the welch boys, this would be a show i'd gladly fork money over.

PJ...how do you envision it happening?....you've got a some excellent experience...you can send me any thoughts to my email address...I'm a bit out of circulation...do you think a club would go for it...like the harpers ferry that you mentioned. I'll be calling that place for their thoughts also.

Brothers- As I said to Craig via e-mail, when you inquire to the various venues, tug at the managements heartstrings while also appealing to thier wallets. In a situation like this, a lot of venues will donate the space to the cause, letting you take the door, whle they reap the bennies of taking the bar on an almost guaranteed large crowd. I have done this before and everbody wins. Hell, one band alone can ring up a 2 or 300 buck bar tab, at least Stone Circus did,so several bands means good money for the bar. We musicians are natural salesmen/whores. Sell the cause. Most bar owners just want people and the buzz about thier club.

Craig,
what kind of bands are you looking for, besides Ronnie's past bands.

Any group that had connections to the welch boys that would want to show their respects in some fashion...We are all in this "life" together and some people look at Ron and see a fallen comrade. I would look to you, Ed, and TJ for guidance on the bands, though. There doesn't need to be any criteria other than sharing in the loss of a fallen friend. Ron's story parallels so many others...
